LaLaLa Management signs The Death Letters
PRESS RELEASE: LaLaLa Management signs The Death Letters
LaLaLa Management is proud to announce a new act has been added to the roster: The Death Letters.
The Death Letters are singer and guitarist Jordi Ariza Lora and drummer Victor Brandt.
Arjo Klingens of LaLaLa Management (De Staat, Elle Bandita, Reyn Ouwehand) clearly recalls that Sunday morning when still in bed, she saw the band performing for the first time on TV at VPRO’s Villa Live. ’15 years old and already making such intense music, it gave me the shivers. It was evident that Jordi has a great musical talent. I remember thinking, should I call them? Yes, No, Yes, No.. So when the boys recently knocked on my door, it immediately felt right. You don’t need much time to think it over.”
The 2-piece band released their self-titled debutalbum last year in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland and the UK on the Dutch Cool Buzz Label. Not long after that, the German Label Stagg-O-Lee (affiliated with the infamous Glitterhouse Records) released the album in Germany, Austria and Switzerland They have since played many stages and festivals from the likes of Paradiso, Zwarte Cross en Paaspop. During their tour they didn’t just play national stages. They went to Germany more than once to do a few shows, and at this very moment, the band is preparing itself for a tour through Norway. “I think The Death Letters have a really good chance outside of Holland. And I find it particularly interesting to take Dutch bands across the border, to find openings. It gives the artists more perspective, not just for the future, but it also makes them understand their own market better. With De Staat for example, I noticed the difference straight away.”
This year the band is focussed on writing new material, and finishing their second album. An album that is expected to surprise many. The tracks are already there, and so now it’s only a matter of finding the right producer and studio.
As for LaLaLa Management, this new deal calls for expansion. From July 1st Renée Hermsen will be backing up LaLaLa’s team. “It takes 2, baby! Renée is a woman with a lot of knowledge and love for different styles of music. Fortunately she is no musician like I am, she’s young and promising. I will do my best to keep her with me for a long time.” With The Death Letters added to her roster, Klingens hopes her agency won’t be stigmatized as the “Alternative guitarmusic” management agency. “Take Reyn Ouwehand as a producer, that’s a total different deal. And at some point, I secretly still hope to sign that one amazing hiphop-act…”
